At the top of the Maison Vieille chairlift, this restaurant is adored by everyone that visits. Giacomo, the owner, is from Tuscany and is the life and soul of the restaurant. These delicious plates are the perfect fill after a morning on the slopes, choose between roast suckling pig, a trio of pasta plates between two and ice cream with forest fruits to finish. With the cable car open until midnight every day, you can organise an evening meal here, taking a snowmobile from the top of the cable car.

Chiecco

One of Courmayeur’s best restaurants, Chiecco is opposite the draglift and a short walk from Plan Chécrouit. This makes it an easy option for non-skiers to meet skiers for lunch on the mountain. Run by Paolo and Anna Costa, heartfelt dishes of ravioli stuffed with ricotta and herbs, tuna filet or the local’s favourite, wild boar ragù with polenta. You can easily pop up here for sunset and a cosy dinner, before taking the cable car back down to Courmayeur.

Pizzeria du Tunnel

The reasonably priced Pizzeria du Tunnel has a selection of 30 pizzas that are cooked in a wood-fired oven as well as traditional Aostan dishes like polenta with beef ragù. We love this informal restaurant and several of our ski experts have been defeated by the enormous pizzas – so make sure you’ve got an appetite when you go! There’s a decent wine list and the prices are reasonable.

Caffè/Bar Roma

Probably one of Courmayeur’s most prestigious addresses, it’s a great spot for aperitivo. Choose from the extensive wine list or cocktail – aperol spritz or negroni are a popular Italian option – then help yourself to the array of nibbles and bar snacks. If you’ve had a late lunch, the aperitivo may well tie you over. But if you’re going out for dinner, you may want to restrain!
